Articles

We often receive questions from golfers and instructors about the data from our Balance Plate and 3D Motion Plate. Our Research Director, Scott K. Lynn, Ph.D., writes articles that aim to explain what the technology is actually measuring, the importance of understanding the data, and its relevance to a successful golf swing.

We are talking about golf from the ground up.

Swing Catalyst Certification

Learn how to use the ground more efficiently to increase POWER and improve CONSISTENCY!

The Swing Catalyst Certification Program provides insights into how the best golfers in the world are using the ground to create power and consistency, and how the ground reaction forces affect the golf swing. There is no requirement to own a Swing Catalyst Balance Plate or a 3D Motion Plate to take this course.

The program is led by Dr. Scott Lynn, Associate Professor at California State University, Fullerton and Research Director at Swing Catalyst. The main purpose of the program is to provide a better understanding of how biomechanics can help golfers improve their swing and avoid injury. The certification program is divided into two courses, Level 1 and Level 2.

  • Level 1 is an online course which focuses on basic biomechanics terminology and the difference between shifting mass and shifting pressure (CoM vs CoP). Students will also learn about the Swing Catalyst Balance Plate and how the best players in the world are shifting pressure to create more power.
  • Level 2 is a one-day seminar which offers students who have completed Level 1 a more in-depth look at biomechanics in golf. During the seminar students will also learn how the Swing Catalyst 3D Motion Plate can help visualize the invisible forces leading to a powerful and efficient golf swing. The Level 2 certification course is now also available as an online webinar.

Level 1 Certification

The Level 1 certification is a free online seminar, focusing on foot pressure distribution and how this affects the golf swing.

Level 2 Certification

The Level 2 certification provides more in-depth information on ground forces, and aims to explain how vertical, horizontal and torque forces affect the golf swing.
